In Mordicai Gerstein's Creating the Picturebook, we began the semester considering framing and spreads. Using nursery rhymes and then fables, we created short dummy books. Here are a few examples of the exercises.
In May 2009 I graduated summa cum laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in illustration and minors in creative writing and art history. I originally hail from upstate New York, where I enjoy skiing and hiking. You can often find me haunting the bookshelves of the nearest library. I work as a Children's Bookseller at the Odyssey Bookshop, where I delight in reading ARCs. I am currently pursuing my MFA in writing & illustrating for children at Simmons at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. Someday I hope to realize my childhood goal to live in a library.
